Captains’ Debate: The New Manufacturing Industry
With Jan De Witte (CEO at Barco), Dirk Deroost (CEO at Cronos Groep), Germann Volker (CEO at Audi Brussels NV), Marc Meurisse (Chairman at Engicon), Pascal Coppens (China Innovation Speaker), Paul Renson (President Renson Ventilation) and Marc Lambotte (CEO at Agoria and moderator), who will discuss disruption in business models and technology, and share insights into how they tackle pitfalls and constraints, and strategically adapt their organization.

Jan De Witte (°1964) is CEO of Barco as of September 2016. He is a global leader who has served in a variety of operational and business leadership roles over the past 25 years, delivering operational excellence, product development and growth in services, solutions and software businesses for technology companies.
Prior to joining Barco, Mr De Witte was an officer of General Electric Cy (GE), and CEO of the Software and Solutions business in the Healthcare Division. During his 17-year, tenure with GE, he worked in global management roles in manufacturing supply chain, Quality/Lean Six Sigma, services and software solutions and lived in Chicago, Milwaukee and Paris.
Prior to GE, Mr. De Witte held operational management positions in supply chain and manufacturing at Procter & Gamble in Europe.
He also served as Senior Consultant with McKinsey & Company, serving clients in airline, process and high tech industries across Europe.
Mr. De Witte holds a Master of Electromechanical Engineering from KU Leuven, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Volker Germann was born in Mannheim (Germany) in 1960 and started his career in 1986 in VW Wolfsburg in various positions as a planner and engineer. In 1994 he started his first position as a manager, this also in the assembly of VW Wolfsburg. In 1994 Volker Germann moved with his experience to VW Navarra Pamplona as head of the planning and pilothall. He then returned to Germany (VW Sachsen and Wolfsburg) to hold various management positions (including Head of Planning, Production Technology and Production Planning) until 2010. In 2010, he again gained experience abroad as Managing Director of the VW plant in Curitiba, Brazil. Afterwards, the foreign adventure continued as Managing Director of the VW plant in Changchun, China, for 3 years. Since April 2019, Volker Germann has been Managing Director at Audi Brussels and leads his team through the production of the Audi e-tron, the first all-electric model within the Audi Group.
Marc Meurisse is co-owner and director metal processing company Engicon, located in Harelbeke. Engicon, known under the brand name Geldof, is a leading contractor of total industrial projects for the storage and handling of liquid and solid bulk goods. In addition, Engicon supplies large, complex pressure vessels worldwide (including to China and the Middle East) from its workshops in Harelbeke. Mr Meurisse also holds the position of chairman of Agoria's Energy Technology Club, the network of Belgium's leading export-oriented service providers to the oil & gas, renewable and conventional energy sector. It is from these perspectives that Mr Meurisse, throughout his career, has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience on all operational aspects of international, industrial business, as well as insights into the determinants of socio-cultural and macro-economic factors in these areas.
Entrepreneurship is in Paul Renson (59)'s DNA, inspired by the previous 3 generations of Renson's who have put the Waregem trendsetter in ventilation, awnings and 'outdoor living' on the map since 1909. Paul Renson 'breathes' innovation and sees his rapidly growing family business take off, especially internationally. Today Renson delivers to 83 countries worldwide, last year it built a new production site in Bologna (Italy) and Renson is also active in Dallas (USA). With a sales office in Shanghai and a brand new production site in Huizhou (Guangdong province), Renson now also has a foothold in China. "There's no speed limit on innovation", Paul Renson likes to present himself and his meanwhile 1200 employees worldwide. Being different from the rest and daring to be at the forefront of the battle: that is the motivation for him to realize his mission 'Creating Healthy Spaces'.
Marc Lambotte (° 7th March 1956) is CEO of Agoria. Marc Lambotte started his career as a teacher in Antwerp.
In 1985 he became trainer at the Customer Education department of IT company Unisys. A few years later he shifted his focus and built a local and international career in sales, marketing and general management.
He taught International Management and Strategic Management at KU Leuven.
In 2014 he joined Agoria as CEO.
